The NewSkin OITB team participated in the AIMEN Centro Tecnológico VII International Laser Week 2022 industrial laser technologies event alongside EU projects Integradde Project, PULSATE, AMable, PhotonHub Europe and LightMe OITB.
The event “Adopting industrial laser technologies: opportunities and success stories for manufacturing companies” was about sharing success stories and opportunities for SME, start-ups, and industry to avail of industry supports available for innovation and technology adoption of laser-based manufacturing (such as: #H2020 funded Open Innovation Test Beds (OITBs), open pilot lines, Cascade Funding, training, and more).

Our team were happy to exchange with the audience and other presenters.

In the opening session, NewSkin project manager Carlos del Castillo (ECCS) presented the NewSkin OITB open access facilities, alongside colleagues from other EU projects presenting their services and facilities available to start-ups, SMEs and industry. Including:
·         NewSkin OITBInnovation Ecosystem to accelerate the industrial uptake of advanced surface nanotechnologies – presented by Carlos del Castillo (European Convention for Constructional Steelwork).
·         AMable – Additive manufacturing services end-to-end – presented by Camilo Prieto (AIMEN Technology Centre).
·         INTEGRADDE ProjectIntelligent data-driven pipeline for the manufacturing of certified metal parts through Direct Energy Deposition process presented by Félix Vidal (AIMEN Technology Centre).
·         LightMe OITB Open Innovation Ecosystem for upscaling production processes of lightweight metal alloys composites presented by Pilar Rey (AIMEN Technology Centre).
·         PhotonHub Europe– One-Stop-Shop Open Access to Photonics Innovation Support for a Digital Europe – presented by Maria Karpiłowska (FundingBox).
·         PULSATE Fostering the PAN European infrastructure for empowering SMEs digital competences in laser-based advanced and additive manufacturing presented by Pablo M. Romero (AIMEN Technology Centre).

In the afternoon session, examples of the application, uptake and impact of having these OITBs, open pilot lines, and other facilities available to industry were demonstrated. NewSkin partner Deborah (ML Engraving) opened this session 3 with a talk on "The added value of #SMEs in European Projects". Deborah outlined the NewSkin project, the role that ML Engraving perform in NewSkin, and shared some successful results that ML ENGRAVING  together with the Institute of Dynamics and Vibration Research (LUH) have produced as part of their NewSkin OITB work on enhancing the tribological performance (friction, wear, and lubrication of interacting surfaces) of an industrial component.

You can apply for free access to these and other NewSkin Open Innovation Test Bed facilities through NewSkin OITB Open Calls (Open Call 3 deadline is 31st Jan 2023), more details on the services available on platform.NewSkin-OITB.eu

To apply, please contact the team on info@NewSkin-OITB.eu to make an initial enquiry, and/or to discuss the services for your potential application. You can sign up here to the NewSkin platform and complete the short online application form. Applicants can request an NDA before filling the open call application - please email info@NewSkin-OITB.eu to arrange this.

The NewSkin services offered are expected to speed-up the launch of novel nanomaterials and membranes, and commercial or personal products using these advanced materials, to boost efficiency and to support industry, especially SMEs, in better and faster development of their products.
