NewSkin partner ALPhANov have presented their latest NewSkin OITB project results in two talks at Photonic West 22 on 27 Jan 2022

1. 09:40 PST Room 208 (Level 2 South) Pushing laser nano-structuring through mass Production https://bit.ly/3r4Reo0
2. 10:30 PST Room 208 (Level 2 South) Interplay of DLIP and LIPSS in surface structuring https://bit.ly/3KKLMyu

The EU-funded NewSkin Open Innovation Test Bed project is offering unique pilot scale prototyping, upscaling, and testing facilities as well as route to market services, and access to investors, to accelerate the commercialisation of innovative nano-surface and membrane materials and technology across Europe.

As part of the NewSkin upscaling facilities, the team are aiming to enable surface structuring at the nanoscale with high process robustness, high throughput, and large area processing.

In the first talk, Girolamo Mincuzzi (ALPhANOV) will present the work done on a pilot production line based on a roll-to-roll approach to up-scale and push the technology readiness level of Ultra-Short Pulse laser nanotexturing to production volume. He will also present possible applications and values propositions for this technology, introducing advanced functional surface properties possible through nanotexturing, such as hydrodynamics, heat exchange, anti-ice, anti-fouling, durable, anti-bacterial, easy to clean properties on stainless steel.

In the second talk, Aurélien Sikora (ALPhANOV) will present the interplay of DLIP (Direct Laser Interference Patterning) and LIPSS (Laser Induced Period Surface Structures) in surface structuring and a novel promising approach for high throughput nano-surface structure generation over large surfaces of highly regular structures in the range of few hundreds of nm.

The NewSkin Open Innovation Test Bed has opened its calls for access to nano-surface and membrane up-scaling and test facilities.

The NewSkin services offered are expected to speed-up the launch of novel nanomaterials and membranes, and commercial or personal products using these advanced materials, to boost efficiency and to support industry, especially SMEs, in better and faster development of their products.

The deadline for call 1 applications is 31 January 2022 (more calls to follow). Check the NewSkin facilities overview presentation and visit platform.newskin-oitb.eu for more details on the services available.
