bionic surface technologies GmbH
Bionic surface technologies GmbH (BST) is a global research and development company based in Graz, Austria, specialized in the development and optimization of surface textures and the testing and evaluation of these. The focus of BST lies on riblet surfaces which are nano- or micro-structures to reduce fluid-dynamic drag between a fluid and a solid surface up to 8 %. Advanced CFD simulations build the basis for the development of riblets. Applications of riblet structures can be found in aerospace, sports, on wind turbines, in turbofan engines, pipelines and various other industrial fields. General CFD analysis, as a substantial tool of modern engineering, is demanded across all industries and covered by BST with an additional specialization in pulp & paper, acoustics and microfluidics. The offerings of BST are complemented by testing and evaluating their surface texture solutions on in-house test facilities. A significant effort at BST is put into the further advancement of riblet technology by conducting publicly- and self-funded research.
